Automotive: How to Change a Car Tire

 Step 1: Find a Safe Location

Park on a flat, stable surface and turn on your hazard lights.

Step 2: Loosen the Lug Nuts
Use a wrench to loosen the lug nuts slightly, but don’t remove them yet.

Step 3: Jack Up the Car
Place the jack under the car and lift it until the tire is off the ground.

Step 4: Remove the Flat Tire and Install the Spare
Remove the lug nuts, take off the flat tire, and place the spare tire on the wheel studs.

Step 5: Tighten the Lug Nuts and Lower the Car
Tighten the lug nuts in a crisscross pattern and lower the car back to the ground.
